Egyptian mango is considered among the finest mango varieties in the world, with Egypt's unique climate producing mangoes with rich tropical flavor, distinctive golden color, and balanced sweetness. Exporting Egyptian mangoes represents an exceptional opportunity for international importers.
Egypt produces world-class mango varieties that compete in quality with Indian and American varieties. Most famous varieties: Ewais — golden orange color, high sweetness, smooth texture, season July-August. Zebedya — large size, rich flavor, preferred in Gulf markets. Keitt — very large size, minimal fiber, ideal for long sea shipping. Taimur — intense tropical flavor, demanded in Europe. All varieties are grown in Ismailia, Fayoum, and Minya regions, GlobalGAP certified.
The main export season for Egyptian mangoes extends from June through November, with peak production in July and August. Packaging: carton boxes of 2-5 kg, with corrugated paper layers between fruits to prevent bruising. Mangoes are shipped in refrigerated (reefer) containers at temperatures of 8-12°C and 85-90% humidity. The cold chain begins directly from the field and continues until the product reaches the importer. Vapor Heat Treatment (VHT) technology is used to treat fruit flies before exporting to European and Asian markets.
Egyptian mangoes are exported to over 30 countries worldwide. Key markets: Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Qatar (largest Egyptian mango importers in the Gulf), Netherlands, Germany, and France (growing European market that values high quality), Russia and Belarus (high winter demand), Malaysia and Singapore (promising Asian market). Annual Egyptian mango export volume is estimated at over 150,000 tons, with a value exceeding $200 million annually.
